Tales From The Darkside was a TV series that lasted 4 years from 1984-88. I remember I was like 8 or 9 years old. The show came on at like 12am on Saturday nights on channel 11 in NY. The credit sequence with the music in the background SCARED the shit out of me. Just watching it even now brings chills down my spine.

Dude, despite how bad most of the episodes were, I loved and still love this show. Sci-Fi often runs marathon batches of Darkside around the Halloween season and last year I had my DVR queued up to download each and every episode, regardless of time slot. Needless to say my drive was quickly full of corny 80's horror goodness and it took me months to finally get through all of it.
You're spot on about the intro for this. John Harrison (composer for Creepshow, Director of Tales From The Darkside: The Movie) was responsible for the music in the show and it's one of my favorite theme songs ever.
